The rain stopped pouring and the wind just about stopped howling , and a hardy band joined us for the Yarlington Wassail hosted by Lucinda Lambourne. Although we were not a great number – enough noise was made to scare away the evilest of spirits from the apple trees; traditional wassailing songs, including our very own Yarlington Wassail , were sung with gusto; the bonfire burnt brightly and apple cakes and mulled cider were consumed ravenously . Then some ‘decanted’ to the Stag’s Head Inn to continue the jollity and thoroughly enjoyed a very tasty Wassail Supper!
Most importantly £165 was raised for St Margaret’s hospice
See you next year !
